How we measure status
Automated checks test each service every one to fifteen minutes — loading the site, signing in, reading the catalog, reaching eBay, our pricing source, email and image storage, and confirming background work is actually being processed. A status only changes after it has been seen on consecutive checks, so a single slow request doesn't flip a service red.
Unknown means we don't have a recent result for that service; it is never shown as operational.
Availability = time Operational or Degraded ÷ time with a known status. Partial and major outages count as unavailable. Scheduled maintenance and periods without monitoring data are excluded from the calculation and shown as coverage gaps.
